50lb yellow tail makes Iflyfishers muy feliz in Asuncion

Just when they thought it couldn't get any better...wham...mr Iflyfish lands the biggest fish he's ever seen! Juan and the flyfishers were all smiles when they returned. That fish fed alot of people and the sushi and sashimi were memorable indeed. We've only been catching fairly small ones lately so Diver suggested a different rapala and it worked! I figure karma comes into it though as Iflyfish really REALLY deserved this lovely creature. Well done sir.

You're making all of us very jealous

Made me go lookin' for a picture of one of my big salt water catches but I don't know where my wife hid the big boxes. Best I could do was I found a shot of a keeper trout I got on a fly (with a bobber) one time in Montana.

Lake trout can get huge. But Osprey is spinning a yarn with his "photo"

Here is a real 50 pound lake trout

And don't forget, salmon are 'trout' too, and they can go in excess of 100 pounds :o

The smiles say it all. I was just as happy as Juan, only I was more tired. That Yellowtail spooled me out on my medium action rod with #40 test line. Had Juan not followed the fish, it would never have hit the boat. Juan is a pleasure to fish with, a real gentleman.

I was reflecting on the fact that a year ago at this time I was just getting out of my hospital bed in our living room and moving upstairs to our bedroom. The day of this photo, it snowed in Ensenada. The day of this photo, we received an email from our Beaverton, Oregon homeowners association that garbage service is cancelled for the week due to the depth of the snow! Life is good in the slow lane!

The DVT I suffered last year left me with some mobility and stamina issues. Juan was kind enough to set up a backrest for me in his panga that made this trip possible and for this reason all that more poignant. He also put my lovely wife into some great snorkeling on this same trip. The rest of the catch, Calico Bass, Bonita and other Yellowtail are not shown in the photo.

It was an overcast day and I chose to use the Tiger striped Storm Magnum lure that I have used with great success in Oregon for Salmon, Steelhead, Walleye and Bass. This is a hot color and seems to be very attractive to many species. Other good colors are the Repala Magnum in Sardine and Tiger Stripe. The largest Krocodiles in Silver with silver fish scale also are choice for this location. For yo-yo fishing, the white and red plastic twister tails are a treatment of choice.

We spent two weeks in Asuncion with Juan, Shari and Serena at the Blow Hole Bed and Breakfast. These folks are wonderful hosts. They are generous and very helpful. It was a pleasure to spend time with them. We will return. The saying in Mexico “mi casa es tu casa” excuse the bastardized Spanish, really fits for these folks with their Sunday community gatherings. We had a great time there.

These are the good old days.

Osprey that fish obviously came out of the south end of that horse when it was headed north! It is shocking that you would post such a thing on this family site.

Taco, that humongous Laker looks like it is about ready to disgorge the lead weights you stuffed it with. Great pic.
Thanks to others for the congrats.

Agree with Iflyfish "These are the good old days" as well as Osprey's "The future is not what it used to be" (That could be good or bad?).:tumble::spingrin:

Personally I think these days are not any different than any others. They will always be whatever YOU decide to make them. It is always YOUR choice. You can waste them or live them to their fullest potential.
