I need to send an email to some people who do not speak English...just thought I would check to see if there was another word I could use.

Yes, as Dennis wrote Blog is Blog. If you're writing an email, you want to write "el blog" or "un blog"

My excuse= The only other Fernando I've known personally, went by the nickname "Nando". Also, "Fern" is a relatively common girl's name in English (or was. somewhat out of fashion these days)
