Best of luck to you ..
Today our 15 yr old cat Opus went to be with her momma, uncle and niece in heaven .. We are so so so sad .. those who love animals know the
hearwrenching experience .. so hard to put into words other than there is a big hole where her love has been.

To be loved by a kitty is a special gift. People who don't understant.... just don't understand.
So sorry for your loss, Lori. I lost my dear little friend Smokey last Sept., and I think of him daily ~ as well as my old Kitty-Bear (who lived to
20) and Motor (who was with me for 16 years).
You have a special fuzzy little angel watching over you now, and she's making new friends with Smokey, Motor, and Kitty-Bear ~ who will take good care
of Opus.

We thank you for caring .. being comforted by others creates a brief moment where our attention shift is focused out ..
Perhaps the worst part is that one week ago she was fine .. We took her in for a regular checkup and told our wonderful vet that Opus seems to be
talking more and eating more but losing weight .. ran a battery of blood tests .. all pointed to hyperthyroidism .. 3 choices -1. Daily pills 2.
Surgery 3. Radioactive Iodine done by a specialty group in Irvine, CA .. We chose the third choice after tremendous research .. 95-99% success ..
no side effects ... But something terrible happened at that nasty place in Irvine .. we dont know what exactly ..
Almost an identical situation happened to us in 1996 .. our then 13 yr old dog PJ had jumped off the bed .. normally, he would wake one of us up to
eat/drink/go potty .. that thud woke us up .. PJ was a Maltese-mix & weighed under 10# .. So we took him to the vet for examination when he
winced at being picked up .. found evidence thru regular exam/xray of herniation .. choice of pills or surgery .. But the surgeon screwed up and only
repaired the first disc not both .. so within 3 days PJ could not stand or do anything and I had to make the excrutiating decision ..
Tommy & I have no human babies...
I remember when Bernies cat Lady passed away recently .. it made me really pause and think about how much we love Opus .. our hearts were hurting for
Bermie seeing what a sensitive caring man he is .. Now our hearts are in such distress .. everything reminds us .. Opus used to sit with me each
morning just next to my computer .. she would rest her head on my hand as I moved the mouse around - helping me .. then she would go to her papa and
help him too .. She always divided her time with us .. such a sweet gentle caring loving little princess ..
Thanks again for your words of comfort .. We find peace hearing so many others have greeted Opus and are inviting her to play and make new friends ..

This has been around for a long time and every time I read it I get a lump in my throat.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we
remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body
quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy
kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from
your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Lori and Tommy so sorry to hear about your baby. I feel your pain . I've been there before myself. Time helps heal into fond memories. God takes

We extend our heartfelt thanks for the kindnesses expressed .. really we do thank you all.
Grover - we learned the mega importance to pay attention to those 'little changes' in cats appetites and weight .. they are big signs of their health
issues - and if ever "God forbid please" we were faced with the same situation, would want to speak with other animal's parents first .. to see first
hand results rather than the 95+% claimed on every animal specialty website .. sure fooled me ..
I intend to call the putz who owns the animal specialty hosp and demand he listen to me as I lay out the truth to him .. Sun/Mon/Tues/Wed/Thus one of
the employees from there called us and outright lied telling us "Opus is doing great - eating well and excreting well" They told us Thurs to call on
Fri and set the appt to pick her up Saturday - We were soooooo excited .. I called Fri morning and set the appt for Sat 11am. Then at 5pm the doctor
called and started with "I dont mean to alarm you but ..." Jeeeezus was I ever alarmed ... and someone at his facility knows exactly what was done ..
Our vet here said Opus had two wounds indicative of incorrect tube feeding and a bruised lung that resulted in pneumonia .. A cat that does not eat
for even a few days can develop liver problems and this is compounded when the immune system is compromised by the radioactive iodine injection .. So
our little princess was tortured at this place rather than treated for what she came in for successfully.
We have so much love iin our hearts for children and animals .. the owner of the race horse Barbarella said something like "If you love you grieve"
We love and we grieve.

Lori/T: Here I set in the Snowcovered Texas Panhandle surrounded by 4 of my Pets with the other two out in the Barn!
Fluffer: a Himalayan kitty I rescued from the Barn when she was 3 weeks old, climbing on my Horses' Back and all over the Stable. When she goes
outside , she will bring back a baby Bunnie as if it were her Kittie, never hurting it! She runs the House!
Goofy: She is a Multicolored Cat that We rescued from the Streets of Loreto some 8 years ago. She is the Fat, lazy, talking Kitty.
Buster; Across betweed a Choc. Lab, Sheppard, and Chow--Toughest Dog with other Dogs I have ever owned! He got loose and went to the Dairy in dos
Palos and got a tied up Female which resulted in 10 Pups--Just had to have the only Brown One.
Flojo; Multicolored Son of Buster-- A real pleasure to have around!
Then the two big ones:
Vanilla Cox Doll- Reg. Quarter Horse Cremello Mare who we bred with a Black Quarter Horse Stud and got a Palomino Horse Colt;
Sir Rocky Doc; Now a Gelding and winner of Several Ribbons at the Tri- State Fair.
I love them All!

Such lovely & memories and photos...there is comfort in comforting others as we are reminded of loved ones .. we really and sincerely thank
everyone for their notes and emails and u2us .. sorry if I have not replied individually to all ..
and we are now dealing with Pop, T's father, awaiting surgery for 2 subdural hematomas (sp?) suffered from a fall 3 weeks ago he didnt tell anyone
about until he passed out Wed morning at breakfast and fell to the floor ... due to heart condition and blood thinning meds we have to wait for
everything to be just right before undergoing the necessary procedures ... from what I can understand this is a dangerous situation...
Once again we ask for prayers... I am so not used to turning out for help rather I am so accustomed to offering our hands of ayuda .. L

One year ago today I lost my Sara Lee, she was 19. 2 week later I lost Willie, he was only 11. I'm crying all the way through this thread. Opus will
now be in heaven with my angels too. My heart goes out to you.

I was given my best friend on my ninth birthday. A little sable collie pup I named Rex. My best friend for 15 1/2 years. Imagine a 24 Y.O. ex-marine
crying like a baby as he walked into the vet clinic to have his best friend in the world to have him put out of the misery of hip-displacia, a common
ailment in large old dogs.I hope Rainbow Bridge is a reality!!! Kids and animals. You hit half my soft spots. Now I need a cold splash and the trusty
Visine.Damn,crying on a Monday!!!

Dear friends ... what-ever Tommy and I do always comes from the purest of intention, and, in the case of posting this message on this board, it was
done searching for info/guidance or answers ..
Tho pained more intensely than I ever thought possible, I shared with 'you' the messy details of our ordeal .. I apologize if it was inappropriate to
have done so.
The notes of comfort came in many forms. Saying thank you seems hardly enough but I can not come up with other ways to express the appreciation.
We remain poised on a health cliff with Pop - his relatively short life (76 yrs) began on Mainland Mexico – eldest son of a man highly regarded and
respected for his work in the Revolution .. who was taught to be tough and brutal if necessary. Pop learned many things in a hard way - and lived
what Tommy and I consider a hard life. That bravado will either have him live and fight what his physical body must endure - or - he will succumb to
the tolls that a weak heart valve and blood thinning medication put upon the body.
We asked a chaplain to be with him last night at 10pm. Yesterday was a particularly bad day - how are we are to interpret when a man stops breathing
and his heart stops? Are we right/correct to ask them to 'ressucitate/defribrilate' him when he has said "Dont ever let me become one of those" ..
Lessons learned another hard way: If you have specific wishes about 'what if's" put them in writing - verbal comments to loved ones are not enough.
The world of legal-mumbos-jumbos-complications have scrambled with the mumbo-jumbo-complications of the world of advanced technology of medicine ..
yet none of it is an exact science and so much is left in 'others hands' .. we believe in God - tho we do not choose to worship at a particular house
– we respect those who do – we also respect those who chose the path of atheism - to each their own after all "judge not lest ye be judged" ...
When it comes down to looking at life in a very simple way - flesh and blood, organs, teeth, skin, hair - the physical manifestations of who we are -
are all vulnerable - as we are - to death.
Kiss your loved ones - Tell them what you never want to regret not telling them - and remember things change.
