La Pinta--Desert Inn--No pets??

Hi,
We seldom make reservations, but thought that this time we might do so----want to stay at the ex La Pinta in Catavina. They have always been dog friendly.

Now I checked their web site --- now the Desert Inns, and they say NO PETS?????

How recently has anyone stayed there with a pet? I tried to call, but could only leave a message.

Thanks
Diane

Go anyway with your pet....take the chance! Very little chance they're full up and will turn you out!

We really like that particular one and so will take your advice. Besides, if it doesn't work out, we can camp at Rancho Santa Inez.

Rancho Santa Ynez has rooms too... Very nice, bunk beds, bathroom... The president of Mexico (Echeverria) and Steve McQueen are just some of the people who have stayed there!

Don, it may be hit or miss with rooms... I do remember looking at them in 1973 when the highway had yet to arrive at that point and the rooms were quite dusty!

I know of a couple of ladies who make it a habit to stay there as they appreciate the quiet, not found along Cataviņa (Hwy. 1)...

I looked at the rooms a couple years ago and they seemed quite nice, bathroom and shower incl. I believe it was $20.

The "no pets" rule is on the web for all of the La Pinta hotels, and they are all called "Desert Inn" now.

If you want gringo guests, gotta have a gringo name, like "Desert Inn" or "Loreto Bay" or "Bay of Dreams."

Diane, I've stayed there numerous times with "Buzz". Never been an issue in Catavina.

My husband and I stayed at the La Pinta Catavina the middle of January with our dog on the drive to La Paz. We have stayed there several times with our dog Molly, and this time was no different--she was accepted without any problem. We always specify before check in that we have a dog and they didn't hesitate to say ok.

I always see dogs at La Pinta in Loreto. Why would another La Pinta be different. I would not be concerned....

What's the procedure with taking pets into Baja? Do you need to bring papers, shot records, etc? Any recommendations for pet friendly hotels along the Rosarito/Ensenada corridor? La Fonda used to take pets years ago but with new ownership, I think they don't allow them anymore.

I have stayed at Rancho Santa Ynez several times with the dirt M/C guys they have bunk beds and bathrooms. No bugs and min. cleaning: not bad for the guys but I would not plan to stay with my wife.
---The food ranks about the same.

Just have a piece of paper from the vet showing everything is current. The only time I was ever asked for it was when coming back into the USA.

Have your current vaccination records with you when returning to the US. Never have been asked for anything in Mexico.
