A U.S. citizen... shot and wounded during a robbery in Tijuana...

...was able to drive to the inspection checkpoint about 2 a.m. despite bleeding from a bullet wound to the upper body. The injury was not believed to be life-threatening. He told San Diego police that he was wounded during a home invasion robbery in Tijuana near his residence.

One man is now recovering in a San Diego hospital after he was shot in Tijuana early Wednesday morning.

It happened around 2:00 a.m. The victim was trying to cross into the U.S. at the San Ysidro border crossing.

He is said to be a U.S. citizen who was living in Tijuana and apparently was shot during a home invasion.

He was taken to UCSD and is expected to survive.

Man, if a couple like this isn't safe in Rosarito, who is?

No good deed goes unpunished............but I guess this is all part of God's plan.

Love that line from the signon story.

It was not clear why he sought treatment in the United States rather than closer to his Mexican home.

Yeah, what a mystery........

San Diego police and U.S. customs officials were investigating.

Well, at least he's lived there long enough to know which police force NOT to contact.
