Dish network BCS
Any more news regarding DirecTV or the lack of and the reception of Dish Network down around Cabo area????
Can you get Dish Network with a 1 meter dish?
Any body know the direction to point your dish for Dish Network?
Any other ideas for Sat. TV ????

DirecTV is pretty much dead here. Only a handful of channels left. We've been swapping out a lot of systems to Dish Network.
Although I could put up anything I want, I'm currently using a 1 meter dish on my own Dish Network system in Todos Santos. They work but...
a) You need a solid mount with no slop.
b) The dish must be pointed dead on the satellite. This means using a good meter to squeeze out every last drop of signal.
c) The cables and connectors should be the best you can get to prevent moisture.
d) Some channels may not lock on, especially in the morning hours.
e) There is little or no margin for rain fade.
The 119° satellite is the one you'll use. In CSL, it's at about 61° elevation and 192° magnetic azimuth.
Some people are using Star Choice out of Canada.

Thanks for the info.... We have a place in Pescadero, with a good set up for sat tv, but with Direct tv phasing out, I was wondering if the same 1
meter dish would work for Dish network. I was curiuos if you know &/or helped Ross and Claudia Vail set up their new system out by Pastora. He has
a 6 foot dish with Dish network and gets about everything. Big dish though. He also has sat internet set up too. I'm hoping to bring down a
Dishnetwork box our next trip and try and pick up the Dish channels. If it works out, I'll switch from DircTV at home (in the states) to Dish and call
it good....
In Todos, are the angles about the same as CSL ?
61 elevation and 192 mag. ??? RT

Yes, I know Ross and Cludia. Nice people. We set up their satellite Internet system. I think I may have been too busy at the time to set up his Dish
Network dish so he had some guys from La Paz do it. That 6' he's using comes out of Guadalajara. It's a decent dish, although it's a copy of a US dish
and doesn't play as well as the original. We get 4' Andrew antennas from the states and they play pretty good here.
The angles are just about the same in TS. The sats are 22,000 miles out in space so 50 miles doesn't make a heck of a difference in the look angles!

I have heard that the 1.8 meter dish works great for the Dish network. If so, are they available in the Los Cabos area? gracias

A 6' works great here and gives you some margin for rain fade. We install them all the time so, yes, we can get them from our supplier in Mexico, or
we can get 6' Andrew dishes from the US. Extra strong, extra heavy duty, and the best you can buy. The Mexican-made 6's are a little flimsy IMHO.
