He's probably got the inside track, since he pays Mexico as much in taxes as he feels like and isn't noted for the philanthropy of the other two.

well, if this is the guiy that bought santispac or the concepcion bahia, dragging the power down there should be easy for him!

i'd look for some nice resorts to come along. wish they'd fix the old Podada one wAY strip.

I think I might have finally got why Capt. Mike is so pro-resort and pro-development in a peninsula that is so prized by us for its wild areas. He wants to escort people to the outback, but if the outback is so common and accessible, where's the value of a private plane ride? We are going to need to escape the same kind of gentrification in Baja that makes life here in California and AZ. so predictable and unrewarding to the soul. The harder it is for us car and truck drivers, the better it is for the pilots. It might even be better for some if Baja is no longer even a destination at all, and other places such as the remote areas of Panama takes its place. If this isn't the case, then I am still at a loss why somebody would want to see Baja paved over.

Slim won't get involved in give-aways because I don't believe their is a tax break to cover the cost in Mexico.

Color our billionaires beautiful I don't think so.

Carlos Slim made the strong majority of his wealth by controlling the telecommunications infrastructure and industry of Mexico.

Beyond price fixing or colusion, he controls the price of all services in total. So much that the average citizen and especially the business owners of Mexico spends more on telecommunications out of their total income as compared any country on the planet.

This same monopolistic control is the dream Ed Whitacre, the CEO fo ATT has for the United States.

The Robber Barrons of the 1900's in the US

who Teddy Roosevelt went to war with and won would have been envious of of Slim's freedom...........googler him and you will find that Mexico is far to small for his reach.............he owns a bit of our land too. (sorry busineses).

What a guy...............sadly to Teddy on the horizen for Mexico.

Actually, Gates & Buffet are #2 and 3 - the real richest is the Sultan of Brunei. Gates's fortune is mostly on paper. If the stock market dives, so does he. The Sultan owns his country outright - including an army. He gives away more than Gates & Buffet combined. Very nice guy. We should invite him to Baja for the weekend! :tumble:
