Ensenada to Gonzaga Bay???
OK, an old question but times change. What route would YOU prefer from Ensenada to Gonzaga Bay... via San Felipe or through Laguna Chapala, via
Coco's from MX-1?

Bob,
You ask what route I would prefer...so here goes. I don't like to backtrack so I would go in a loop. Ensenada to San Felipe (a beautiful trip in
itself) on to Gonzaga. Then out via Coco's to Mex 1 at Chapala. For a little something different at Coco's turn left and exit via Calamajue. Check
out a map for this.
You should have a high clearance vehicle, 4 by 4 shouldn't be necessary.

Having just made that trip (again), I agree with Ken about the way there. But I like that particular route so very much, I'm always happy to
backtrack and come out the same way.

Bob, I enjoy the loop way of doing things, too!
However, your HEAVY camper will need to go about 5 mph for 40 miles (north Of Gonzaga), until that section gets regraded. Just FYI!

What speed are most of you traveling on the dirt roads ? (Puertocitos -Gonzaga-Coco's) And what are you driving ?

David, we did this already... and I must say we did more like 3 mph speed with our cabover. It was a wonderful trip. I'm inquiring more information
for another friend of mine who wants to go this route.

Yup, 3 mph might be more like it!
A camper or moho has a lot of stuff in cabnets, the fridge, etc. that will get damaged or bounced to the floor.
Remember when Bedman graded the road into Gonzaga from Chapala with his Suzuki in front of his moho?

It really depends on the type of vehicle you're driving. When I have my f250 with 10' Lance I may never go over 25mph on dirt, on the rough section
pictured I'm below 5mph.
With my Xterra with tires aired down its another matter. On that rough section we still held it down to <20mph, but on the smoother section south
of Puerticitos 40mph+ is possible without getting too crazy and beating up the equipment. I've been passed by others doing well over 50mph on
dirt.
