In search of...#4 - a little fun along the way
Are we there yet?
Our small group of explorers were greeted by quite a strong wind as we neared San Diego on a Saturday afternoon two weeks ago. As we got closer to
Portrero County Park, a few miles north of Tecate the wind died a bit, just to resurrect itself a couple of hours later. Resurrect? heck, it was born
again, this time with a fury. Luckily we ate dinner just before the worst of it.
Hopefully it would be better in the morning. Sure enough - Sunday dawned calm and beautiful. Crossing into Tecate, through to Guadalupe Valley for
breakfast was "a breeze."
Traffic in Ensenada and Highway 1 south from there was also quite light.
First stop of consequence was the stabilized ruins at Mision San Vicente Ferrer. The woman "manning" the gate sure got our attention - she was quite
attractive - but we went on into the grounds and focused our attention, mostly, on the ruins of the 1780-1833 structures.
INAH has done good here.
Lunch was the next stop - on to San Quintin and a favorite restaurant of Bill Bryants. Seafood, seafood, and more seafood, many varities caused many
smiles as the photograph will show.
Next two photographs will be of the Sea Lion activity at La Lobera 6 or 7 miles north of El Rosario - the second of these shows the lobster they hope
to raise in special tanks - by the time this place opens these two lobster may well be quite aged.
The following photo will show a bird (hawk?) perched atop a cirio along the road to San Juan de Dios.
Lastly, for now, is some of the scenery along the San Juan de Dios road between the El Sauzaito mining area and San Juan de Dios.

So, first - San Vicente Ferrer:

Is this a hawk? This is as close as I can zoom in without messing up the photo completely!

This is a cool drive
Much of the way to San Juan de Dios has scenery of a grand nature. As you all know, most of us (Ken Bondy excepted) cannot do the scene justice. Here
is a try though.
