what is it?
some sort of spider we found crawling through our camp last week. it was 25 feet from the high tide line along the central pacific coast. he was
launched towards the water never to be seen again.
anyone have an idea on what this critter is called?
spoon is for size reference and launch instrument.

My wife sometimes eats with a spoon that size. Looks like a shovel to me. I need a better referrence -- makes the spider thing look like it might be
just under a kilo. Probably not legal this time of year.

What?
Looks like a solpugid, or wind scorpion. Terrible looking, but pretty harmless.
