How many Nomads actually return their FMT's to Mexican immigration before they expire?
$220.00 fine per permit for failing to do so...right????

Never knew it was required until last year.
We mailed them in this year.

We used to just throw them away, but now we send them to the Tijuana address before they expire.
We also make sure we return the car hologram required for travel on the mainland before it expires. They always tell us to keep the stamped paper
work just in case it shows up on a computer, we can prove we turned it in.

By the way, in 40 years of Baja trips, I have never sent the old ones back or 'surrendered' them before leaving Mexico (as there is no way to do this
from an automobile in line at the border)!
As Borat would say, "naughty, naughty"!

How does one prove you returned the FMT?. Your word against theirs. And, whats the point? It will have expired.

Really don't know----we never used to return them, but a couple of years ago the Baja Discover Club gave us that address so we just send them in now
before the end of six months. Maybe it is too more pieces of papers to be recylcled there rather than here.

Another tip : Smiling sweetly at the nice Migra officer doesn't protect you from a lecture when the old one(s) fall out of your passport. I've learned
to do one last check for any old FMT's as I'm walking to the office to get new ones.
