punta pescadero or bahia animas???

I am heading down later in the week to the BOLA area. We are looking to do a little camping, snorkeling and spearfishing at a quiet beach. We are looking at going to either Punta Pescadero or Bahia Animas, both south of Bahia de Los Angeles.

I can drive to Bahia Animas but will need a boat ride to get to Punta Pescadero. I will have my two kids (11 and 15) and we are looking for camping, snorkeling, spearfishing and shore fishing. If anyone is aware of these places and have a feel for which one best suits our interests it would sure be appreciated. If it's a tie we will go with Animas since we can drive in and out on our own schedule and have all the comforts of truck with us.

Thanks for the help!

Bring the wetsuits. I imagine water is still in the mid 60s, at best.

Do you have any kind of boat or are you shore diving? A couple of kayaks could make all the difference, if you could rent them and transport them.

It's been a few years since I've been to Animas but as it is at the mouth of a large arroyo, the visibility is what you'd expect with a fair amount of sand around. Not great. That can change dramatically if you can dive the rocky coastline immediately south of Bahia Animas. But it is boat-only stuff, as far as I could see.

The tides are an issue in this area. The kids might have a better time of it at slack times.

Not familiar with Pescadero.

pescadero or animas

I will be shore diving and as far as the kayaks go I have a couple but I am not going to bring them for a variety of reasons, hopefully I don't regret it.
Maybe Pescadero will put me on the rocks.

Thanks

Spearfishing at animas is not very good from the shore, even with a boat you would need to get at least to animas point - the water is not very clear due to the flushing of the estuary twice daily - I think you mean Pescador - which has better diving from the rocky points - unfortunately you will need a boat to get in there.

If you can fit all your stuff in a boat go to pescador nice ledges and rock piles good protection from the north wind.
