Rice and Beans, San Ignacio

We need a room for friday night, does anyone have a phone number? With Easter we're afraid to just show up and have no place to stay. Thanks

wonder if he still has the menu with 2 different prices, one for gringos and another for Mexicanos? DUH, right on the menu. I asked him about it, "oh, it's just a mistake". It sure was, I ain't been back since.

It is strange how things can change!

I ate and stayed at Ricardo's Rice & Beans in 2001 and found it to be a great place for good food, drinks, and comfy room... all fair priced and all run by Ricardo. I mean he seemed to do everything (cook, bar tend, host,...).

Only one price on the menu back then...

Maybe Ricardo needed a break and finally dlegated some jobs to others?

Since then, Ignacio Springs has opened, and I would like to try it!

I prefer to take ricardo at his word. I found him to be a very savy business man, whose business has been built on score racers to a large degree.

capt. it could have truly been a mistake. hate to throw him under the bus on this.
that menu didn't exist when I was there last.

We have stayed there several times and never experienced anything like that George. He even let Mike Humfreville leave his engine blown Trooper for 2 years "no problemo"

BTW tripledigitken: thanks for the number, it is however 01 526151540283

the lady at the other number knew what I was talking about and gave us the correct one. So we got it done, thanks again!

it was back in 2002 and the menu was in english on one side and spanish on the other...there was about a 15% difference..

I would have no problem with him offering a lesser price to his regular Mexicano patrons, and told him so. Just try to use a little more discression.

Very nice man, I like him, but so what? I ran a bakery/cafe for five years, same price for all comers.

I'm glad he fixed the problem.

Ignacio Springs? Incredible couple, Gary & Terry, great, comfortable and warm lodging (Yurts)...food to die for, Terry, truly a great chef. Treat yourself when in San Ignacio and stay there!

We stayed there, Gary gave me a small spinning rod, baited it with a "date" and I caught a 20 lb carp, too much, a date? Also set us up with the best whale watch imaginable.

Was the Spanish version in pesos and the English version in dollars?

Capt. George - the logic of this is pay in pesos!
It would be ill logical to post the prices in gringo greens if the exchange rate can change from (9 to 1) to (11.5 to 1) in a short time. (yes I've seen the other side of the menus with the "gringo" price but use this as a reference to know what it is I'm getting---when I pay in peso it figures out right.)
I have found Ricardo to be a friendly, wise, honest business man
Once He even treated me to a shot of TA-KILL-YA after my dinner.
old saying -- don't kick the dog till you 'know' your were bit and weren't standing on his tail.:)

Capt. George this wasn't a 'kick George' just a possible explaination of a misunderstanding between two honorable men.

actually I'm just an old dog kicker from way back.

if I were disatisfied, something was amiss, it was a long time ago....I know/knew all about dolares y pesos.....

And yes, I found Ricardo to be a nice man. I wish him well.

And yes Virginia, even in Baja, gringo tax exisits (if you allow it)....cap'n g
