Buying fish at the beach?

Hi all,

Just wondering if there are places where one could buy fresh fish right from the fisherman in the Colonet area (and south). My Wife and I are moving into the area some 14 km east of Rancho Meling so I'm starting to think about where we will buy our provisions! Being a farming area there must also be market days too!

thanks

Mike

I don't know Colonet specifically though most fisherman work in cooperatives which do not allow them to sell fish individually on the beach, there are also seasonal restrictions. Though they can gift you a fish and perhaps you might gift them something especially something they need like fresh fruits or drinks. So watch how you approach it and the results will vary, but normally the answer to "can you sell me a fish" is no. You might also find an independent fisherman, their boats would probably look like a sport boat different than the typical commercial panga.
