crossing the border
I am kinda confused here. We were going to go in to Baja at tecate. We have changed our mind and decided to go in at a crossing closer to our 1st
night destination of San Quintin. I have read posts about crossing at San Ysidro but can not find directions using map quest to that crossing. It
appears to be the same as TJ. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know there have been previous posts giving directions but am having trouble
finding them. Directions by road name will really help.

Tijuana is the city on the Mexican side of the border, San Ysdiro is the city on the US side of the border. Interstate 5 ends at the border crossing
going south.

Photos of every road sign and turn from the San Ysidro/Tijuana border to the toll (Scenic) highway to Ensenada!
Both I-5 and I-805 come to the Tijuana border... they merge just before Mexico.
Use I-805 if you need to get a tourist card because you will want to be in the far right 'something to declair' lane to park in front of the INM
office. I-805 is generally faster if you are coming into San Diego from the north, as it is.

Yes the office is clearly marked. It's on the northwest side of the customs area near the bank.
After filling out the tourist card (FMT) you have to walk over and pay the bank the $200 peso fee and then go back to the office and the officer will
stamp the FMT so that it is valid.
