Camping on the east cape-9 Palms

Hi folks, my daughter and I are heading down for two weeks of surfing, and will be camping out, late June. Last year we spent about 16 days camping at 9 palms, it was excellent!
On this site I heard that camping may go away at 9 Palms, due to development. Any word on this? I didn't see any other places to camp last year on the beach in this area, any ideas? If necessary, we will camp on the pacific side, but it sounds like the camping around Todos Santos is thinning out also.
This will be my 33rd trip, in 31 years, my daughters 4th. We will be traveling with a buddie my age, 50, and his daughter, age 15. Thanks for any help, we cannot wait! Ron
