Sierra Gorda Missions

Before Junipero Serra arrived in Baja California in 1768 and California in 1769, he worked in a group of missions in the Sierra Gorda region of Queretaro (1750s). The configuration of these missions is similar to the 16th century central Mexican convents, with an enclosed atrium. The first photo is Jalpan, located in the small town named Jalpan de Serra.

Nice tie in Robert! Mexico has so much to show... Baja is just the tip of the iceberg, yet Baja has more than a lifetime's worth of adventures!
