Golf Cart for Transportation
I am considering the purchase of a golf cart as a TOAD with my RV. The law allows me, as a disabled person, to use one in my neighborhood in Oregon if
it meets certain criteria.
I have not noticed, but have others seen folks using golf carts in Mexico for transportation? Is it legal to do so and would it matter?
I thought if anyone would know, it would be this august group. Don't gloat, I didn't mean you.

yamaha golf cart.
i love em!! here's a pic of my yamaha street legal gas powered i drove daily on an airpark development project. took the governor off, man it flew!
should never have sold it, it was cherry! but i made $700 keeping it 2 years!
i'd love one for baja. sure, drive it on the streets but get a gas unit, not electric.

we have an ezgo gas model...
just import it at the border...no problem
DO NOT get ANYTHING you can't get parts for easily
WOW it's fantastic...
the governor does slow it down but susan NEEDS it or she'd flip it in a minute
oh yea bring an extra spare tire
the people here use quads too to get around and those yamaha gators
those thing really "move-out"
mike...you need to get one for the hotel to get back and forth to the swim-up bar

Mike it gets even better than that.
In Oregon I qualify for a disabled sticker. With that sticker and a special license, only requires driving a field tester around the block, in my
neighborhood, I can drive a cart designed to go no more that 15mph on any street with a speed limit of 25mph. That means it is my second car here in
the states and will get me to and from shopping!
I also found that they are developing golf carts with wide wheels and special protection from leaks, so that you can drive them on golf GREENS!
This is being done because of the number of law suits that golf clubs have lost due to the ADA, Americans With Disabilities Act, which requires EQUAL
access to all public activities and events. This is a law with real teeth. Real penalties for not complying. Very good news for us aging boomers with
mobility issues. Good news also in the face of exploding gas prices.
My brother who lives in Queretero, says that they are commonly driven on the streets of St. Miguel.

great story,
born in Crystal N.D. myself
loved being raised on a farm, nice way to grow up
used to go to town once a week, a nickle for a whole roll of bbs, bounty of five cents for pigeons and a quarter for gophers. used to collect the
spent bbs to reuse. pigeons crapped on grain, reduced price, gophers ate the carrots. full employment for my brother and I
looked at the wind blown blue flax fields and dreaming......that's what the ocean must be like

drive back with a cart load full of fish...
it's just like disneyland down here

Hi Iflyfish,
A golf cart is a great idea, but you may want to consider something more substantial (more $$ though too). My Wife and I are planning to build a
astronomy B&B in the moutains near San Pedro Martir this fall, my observatory will be about a km away from our house on a nearby ridge. So I've
been researching some small electric cars that I could charge up off our solar house grid. I saw a bunch of these babies in use when I was down in Key
West a month or so back:

I will be getting the 4 person version, it has a great range (esp with the better battery pack) decent speed (25mph) and a pretty sophisticated
suspension. Hell these guys should be in use in every downtown in the world!
