Mexicali road construction update..

As of a few weeks ago, the underpass/overpass at intersection at the Carretera al Aeropuerto and Blvd. Venustiano Carranza (about 2KM SE of the Mexicali east crossing) was completed.

Anyone headed north from San Felipe on Blvd. Venustiano Carranza will still remain in the right lane to turn onto the Carretera al Aeropuerto to get to the east gate; but, the intersection looks compleley different now. The road work was completed about 2 weeks ago; and within that time a new Carl's JR sprang up on the NE side of this intersection and everything looks completely different.

Here is the old setup, but shows the location.

Google map link to intersection

FYI: There is a Walmart and Office Depot on the NW side of this intersection. Heading north; you will need to stay to the right to turn left (over an underpass) onto the Carretera al Aeropuerto to get to Walmart as the main North/South road now passes under the East/West road. I have been told that several auto thefts have occurred at this mall too, so stay on guard and use steering wheel lock.

Nice improvement; but, confusing to anyone used to the old setup. I drove trough earlier today and almost did not recognize the intersection from a few weeks ago with all the new buildings, landscaping, and roadwork that has been completed.
