In the past some here have mentioned having been scouts, well if you are or were ever a scout, tomorrow is the 100th aniversary and scouts around the
world will renew their promise at 8 AM local time (Scouting sunrise).

Amazing. I just saw the first couple of words in the oath and remembered it all. Are they still allowed to say God or has it been pulled like the
Pledge Of Allegiance?
A few weeks back, in Sharkys bar, I bought a real boy scout knife from a thirsty patron for 5 bucks. It has a can opener and a bottle opener along
with an awl and a blade. I will dedicate the rest of it's life to Pacifico beer bottles.

If my arthritis would allow it I'd raise my hand in a three fingered salute. Like several other things in my life, I'm glad I did it but I wouldn't
do it again.
Dennis: The acknowledgment of the state religion is still in "the pledge", and the California Supreme Court has ruled that the BSA is a private club
and they can (and do) exclude non-Christians.

Explorer Memories
The Explorer Program was very new when I joined the newly formed group sponsered by the San Diego Zoo Hospital, and our leader was Dr. Herschele
who was the director of the Zoo hospital.
One day I got to ride shotgun with the good doctor while he was making his rounds .... We received a call and rushed up to the mesa area where a
Gizelle had broken his lower leg. They are very high strung animals; and after being hit by the tranquilizer round dild further damage to his leg.
So, we loaded him up and took this beautiful animal to the hospital where he was put down.
The Explorer Program for me, was a great program and kept my interest in Scouting from fading.
So, here's a salute to the Boy Scouts, and memories of campouts, Cuyamaca Summer Camp , The Ragger Society , and many great
experiences !!

"One nation, under God, indivisible".....?
I thought the ACLU had them drop the God part. I think they tried anyway.
I don't know. The whole world has passed me by.

FTD: Thank you. Perhaps my comment should have been:
I'm glad I did it, but I wouldn't be allowed to do it again.
In 1956 they just automatically marched us en mass across the street to the Congregational Church, we were all too young to really think for
ourselves. To us it was all about camping trips and merit badges and doing a good deed daily. We had no conception of the other motives of the
leadership. I still object to the idea that a boy can't be honorable without believing in gods. Despite that, the BSA has done a lot of good in a lot
of places and I honor most of what they do.
I still live "Be Prepared" every day of my life.

Dennis, what are you talking about man, I was just reminding scouts out there about the Scout Sunrise, nothing to do with a pledge to a flag or ACLU
or nothing, this is a world event, duh.
You see Dennis, Once a Scout, always a Scout.

It's boys and girls, and they are a handfull but they have a lot of fun. The weekend of the 10th we will all be at the Estero in Ensenada were they
will make rafts in the same manner, and spend the night on the water.
