House plans
Does anyone know of any websites with mexican/baja style house plans. Southwest style doesn't cut it.
Thanks for the input.

Bajafreaks,
You might look at arquimex.com.mx
I had them quote some plans, they have an 800 number you can call toll free, and they speak English, if that is a concern for you.
I liked their style, but went with a local architect.
Arquimex is located in Playas de Tijuana.

Freaks-- where will you be building? I suggest a local architect for plans that will get you a permit quicker. And for the eternal Gardnerville
debate-- which is better the Overland or JT's?

Bajaguy nailed it, J.T'S all the way. How about a "Picon".
As for a local architect I'm just trying to get some ideas by looking at plans etc. and the property is in Los Barriles.

When????
Freaks, I'm up for it, anytime at the JT....also I can clue you in to our experiences. You need to get a copy of "God and Mr Gomez' by Jack Smith. The
"Bible" for anyone building in Baja.
It's out of print, got my copy (new) through Amazon.com

A couple of good books come to mind.
Casa Mexicana.........Out of print but available through Barnes and Noble, on-line.
Casa Mexicana Style....... Readily available, same place.
These books are coffee table quality, well done. You won't find beach-camp architecture but they will give you lots of inspiration.
If you're looking in north Baja for real examples, you could be easily misled. Some of the abominations on the coastline between the border and
Ensenada are hard to look at and defy interpretation. Ugly beyond belief. These have been designed by local architects who have been trying to
develop a signature style as one would imagine a Mediteranian motif. In my estimation, they have failed in their endeavor. They should have stayed
with the simple elegance of Barrigan instead of taking pages from the Timmothy Leary design book.
Well, that should do it for today. A controlled rant is good for circulation.
