off the grid

Hi all, I'm looking into buying a small house or trailer somewhere between Punta Banda and San Quintin. Dirt roads and solar power (i.e. cheap) are what I'm looking for. Leased lot and all that. Any hints, leads or listings would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dan

La Bocana is a good spot. It's the setting for the "God and Mr. Gomez" story by Jack Smith back in the seventies. That book was partly, if not greatly, responsible for the popularity Baja has today. Find it and read it if you havn't already. It's inspiration is timeless.

Indeed. Of course, as Smith notes repeatedly in the book, don't expect everything to turn out the way you planned it. Flexibility and patience are essential.

Hey All, thanks for the input. I'm going down in a few weeks for a scouting trip so any tips on locations is appreciated. I've already got a place on the other side so I'm familiar with the process. Just looking for a close summertime place. Keep'em coming. THANKS, Dan p.s. read the book.
