Mexico, New York
OK...I just had to share this with you. While researching for an upcoming business trip to New York, I was looking for chapters of a business
networking organization that I belong to and lo and behold they have a chapter in Mexico, NEW YORK! I could not find a chamber of
commerce...I guess they are too small. I would love to know the story behind the name. It is about 25 miles north of Syracuse close to Lake Ontario

I don't much like those rape odds...
I just to relate this to Baja. The whole reason for this is that my mom (who lives in Baja) is visiting a friend in Syracuse who used to live in
Baja. I have been scheduling business events to finance taking her to NYC, which I dearly love. Yeah...I know...the exact opposite of Baja. I feel
like I have been "cheating" on Baja Nomad with another board, one for NYC visitors, which I have been posting on for more than a year. Sorry,

I love NYC too !!
I feel the three greatest cities in the us are:
New York City
Chicago
and San Francisco
Each has its own special allure for me.

village of MeNico, as it stands to-day, enjoys a position, the importance of which is recognized throughout the county. The site early became the
nucleus of a busy colony, and the place took the name of Mexicoville. In 1812 there were a dozen houses within its present bounds. Nathaniel Rood was
the first settler-the Rood who lost his life in the lamentable lake disaster off " Vera Cruz".

Upstate New York is beautiful country with many historic towns. Especially nice in the fall when the leaves are turning. I spent my first 25 years
there and miss the place, except in the winter. There was a week in August of '69 that I especially remember.  Have fun.
P.S. As a side note of interest, Mexico, NY got buried in snow a couple years ago. It made the national news. That's also beautiful when that happens
and the sun comes out after the storm.

It really is beautiful..
In 1970 after a concert in Carnegie Hall I booked the band on a train ride up the Hudson Valley on our way to Syracuse.
It was a stunningly beautiful trip. I had heard of, but never seen such beauty with the autumn leaves.
They had complained that they wern't flying. but, when we arrived each one thanked me for booking that train trip.!

I think you are reading the numbers incorrectly. You have a way less chance of being raped in Mexico, NY than the Country as a whole.....
For a bad place, try Saginaw, MI
