How about a listing for lodgings that allow our 4 legged friends?

All my childhood I wanted to be older. Now I\'m older and this chitn sucks.

Second the Request

This subject comes up frequently on BN and it would be nice to have a specific forum for info that includes pet-centric trip reports, updates about what the border requirements are, helpful hints, etc.

Also, this would be helpful for the other Nomads who couldn't care less about pets and/or traveling in Baja with them; they can just roll their eyes when reading the forum title and skip over the subject. (Just like the Political Forum.)

Lucy Big Dog and Shami3 and the various unnamed gatitas on the rock here in Asuncion agree and want to see more pet reports too....they pass on an invitation to all you bajabound pooches to come and hang out with them...you get your own special carpet to sleep on in the room, you can chase each other around all day, bark at people and cars and quads, enjoy the NO LEASH bylaw, chase sticks and balls, dig as many holes in the sand as you can, surf, swim, dive off the cliff and get jettisoned out the blowhole, dig clams on the beach...chase cats and chickens, bug the horse...it's a pet paradise dudes, so whine real loud when passing Vizcaino and get your oners to turn right and head to the beach....oh and a special meow from Miche the part bobcat machamamma who is awaiting more big doggies to attack!

We agree since we travel with our fur babies.

However, sometimes we are a little hesitant to share dog friendly places because of how some travelers abuse this courtesy. We have seen places that were dog friendly change to NON dog friendly for very good reasons.

Just a thought

Hey Oso, while looking up the date for Mama Espinoza's 100th birthday, I saw an article that said Discover Baja Travel Club has such a list and they will email it to members for the asking... It was posted in their Sept. online newsletter. http://www.discoverbaja.com

Baja Insider freely published Ann Hazard's list at http://www.bajainsider.com/baja-life/pet-care/petfreindlyhot...

Be advised that it is incorrect based upon our personal experience. Things change...G. Negro Don Gus motel has a sign in the office saying "NO Dogs" and has for the past 3 years. Hacienda de Cortez (Engleberts) in La Paz no longer exists.

A sub-forum for this topic would be helpful and can be kept updated.

Or maybe a Nomad can create a spreadsheet listing all the places that accepts dogs. Then one could print it out not have to scroll through all the listings online. Just a thought...

Good idea, Zac, but it would need to come with a bottle of whiteout---things change all the time. It is like the list that Jack mentioned---we have that, and while very helpful, some of it is not accurate.

A sub-forum would help keep the changes updated.

It is like in Guerrero Negro we used to stay at Don Vicente's but got really tired of his mood swings---this time yes, next time no, then he would welcome us as his long lost friends, then wanted more money another time (never a problem)---every time was a struggle and we had him check the room in the morning every time. I know he has been burned, so we were really careful and he knew it.

So, we don't stay there anymore----

Updates are important---to keep that list or spreadsheet as close to accurate as possible.

Also like the idea of listing of VETS.

See ya soon
Diane

A List of Vets?

(Jaw drops, hand hits head) Why didn't I put this on my previous comments?

It has taken several years here in Rosarito for us to develop a go to list of vets for normal care and emergencies and I would happily share that info with the board and would love to get their input as well.

Also, travellers would have access to a list of recommended vets in strange towns.

It's a splendid idea!

I have another project I'm working on that creates a file storage/download area... and possibly incorporating something like that into another sub-domain at bajanomad.com would be worthwhile.... something that only I, or select users are able to upload files.

If things change, we just update the files that are available.

It's another item on an ever increasing list of things that can/should be done here.

My only handicap with all of this is time.
