Paved roads and Casinos
From the October 29 Mexfish.com report
SAN FELIPE, MEXICO: Catalina Meders of the Title Company Bookstore at San Felipe reported gorgeous weather over the weekend, with no wind and the
morning low tide air temperature at 82 degrees. "There are lots of people strolling the beach," Meders said. "It's one of those perfect San Felipe
days." Strong winds the previous week brought power outages as work progressed on widening the Mexicali highway to 4 lanes. "It is now official that
the road will be paved heading south through Gonzaga Bay all the way to Mex 1," Meders said. "Also, it seems that there will be at least one casino
here in San Felipe. Looking on the bright side, this will create new jobs for the local people and generate more money for the town." The San Felipe
2007 Shrimp Festival was scheduled for Nov. 8-11, 2007, and other local activities included a golf tournament at El Dorado and preparations for the
Baja 1000 race.

Betting the Farm
It will be interesting to see how well casinos will do in Baja, given the fact that they are now plentiful anywhere you go in California. Especially
with the added possibility (or likelihood) that the "House" may not be entirely honest.
Although I haven't placed a bet in a casino in more than thirty years (in Las Vegas), It will be fun to watch.

One would hope they do a better job on the road paving south through Gonzaga Bay, all the way to Mex 1 than they did on the current Mexicali/San
Felipe Road.
The problem with the 4 lane road from Mexicali to San Felipe is they have put the other two lanes on top of the existing 2 lane road over the last 10
years. Who would of thunk it? This would be fine if they had done it all at once but they do a little each month, fill a hole here, fill a hole
there, fill a hole everywhere. We see the trucks working all the time, they shovel blacktop on the hole and then move to the next one. Talk about
your speed bumps.

Before moving to San Felipe - my husband & I worked Vegas & Mississippi casinos for a combined total of about 20 years - haven't ever worked
one that was totally honest - thats why they call it gambling - not WINNING

I also spent twenty years in casino management. They don't have to be crooked to win. The odds are all in the houses favor...sooo... you lose.
Machines are the big money maker. I ran poker rooms and we always made a steady profit for the house, but a single bank of 15 machines made more than
a 16 table poker room.
I would guess that any casinos built here will be 95% machines. High profit and they wouldn't have to train or pay dealers.

I hope they have a craps table. None of the indian casinos have craps. It is the most fun of all the casino games to play.

I agree with you, other than poker that is. Craps is actually about a 50/50 bet for an experienced player. It is also the hardest game to deal, by
far. We shall see if they want to go to the trouble of training craps dealers. Hmmmm, wonder if there going to have a poker room, for a small fee I
would be willing to set it up for them.

is Sf operation that going to be one of those "skill" game parlors like in rocky point they use to duck the current laws against casino style gaming
in mexico?
otherwise, how could a real casino open in san felipe??
if it were legal wouldn't the mega resort cities already have hit on it?
that road from mexicali to SF sucks!!!!!!!!!!! nearly tore my bike apart several times when we rode down for turkey day several years ago.
