El Dia de Muetro da Vida

I hope the below link works and Ya"all can access the pictures taken of the alter and tapete here in the Plaza in Oaxaca. It has been an incredible experience to partake in.

Oaxaca awakens to joy and celebration on Day of the Dead. The town is booming with the party ensuing.

Fantastic. Thank you Sara for sharing those with us. I liked seeing the boys involved painting the plaster skulls.

I really enjoyed this series of photos, Sara. Very interesting to see the artists at work, how the altar and tapete all come together. So colorful it is, how much meaning is built into it. How much time was spent making it real?

Nena, Paula, y Paulina, I am so glad you enjoyed the pictures. I have been casting and painting skulls for several weeks. The actual building of the alter and tapete was done in half a day. The design for the tapete was some time in the mind of Xochitl before finalizing in real life, the creative process you know.

If there was ever a time to come to Oaxaca, it is for Dia de Muerto, the town really comes alive, there is so much to see and do.

I am packing, packing, packing. I plan to go the the Municipal Cemantary in a couple of hours, than out to Hoho for a look at a country graveyard and than we head to Mexico City around 1 a.m.

If all goes according to plan, I will be sleeping in my own bed in Baja Saturday night.

Thanks for sharing, Sara. What a wonderful altar. So enjoyed seeing the creative process. I'm in Portland now and do not have much time on the computer, but had to login to tell you how much I enjoyed seeing the creative process as well as the end result.

Ladies!

If you click on the pictures in the first link you will see a small picture of Sara, upper right, click on that and you will be taken to a bunch of her art of other times.

But then, perhaps you have already done that.

Thanks Sara.
