Car rentals - Keeping car in La Paz?
Hi everyone,
I'll be in the Cabo/La Paz area of Baja over Thanksgiving. My first trip to Baja.... Although I've to a bunch of other places in Mexico. Anyway, do
you guys think I'd want to keep my rental car while I'm in La Paz? Is it hard to get to the good beaches (which I believe are north or south of La
Paz,) without a car? Or are taxis cheap or are buses there easy and direct?
I am picking up a car in Cabo and driving to Todos Santos & then to La Paz. If I don't need it in La Paz I could turn it in there, for my 3 days
there, and then rent another one, the day I leave La Paz to go to Cabo Pulmo.
Would love to your opinions on this ASAP since I have to take care of the car rental this weekend. And if you've got suggestions of "deals" on car
rentals, let me know! Thanks!

I think the taxis would eat up what you will save on turning it in, and you will need transportation. Also leaving it here I think you would have a
return fee.

Most beaches are too far away for cheap cabfare.
Comitan is right, it will cost you more in the long run to cab it.

I agree with everybodies comments, but having said that, don't fail to park the car at least one of the days and walk extensively along the Malecon,
and into the heart of the historical part of the city including the plaza------this is a wonderful city and should be strolled around at your leisure
for at least a day and evening, if not more. There are many, many wonderful restaurants, also, and you can walk to most of them easily-----in fact
that is the only way I would "do" La Paz itself----

taxis are way too expensive for trips to the beaches. you can get buses from the bus terminal on the Malecon, about every hour or two and cost is 20
pesos each way. they go to Ballandra, Tecolote and the ferry terminal.
you can bus or taxi almost everywhere else in town. stay in downtown area and walk.
I've rented a car in La Paz for return in La Paz, no info on second city drop off. very important...reserve ON LINE for significantly lower rates.
the further ahead the better, though you can still save 10-15 US/day by doing it from your hotel room or internet cafe the night before. National
seems to have the best prices and is right downtown.
reality\'s never been of much use out here...

Yes, I definitely will explore La Paz on foot! Looking forward to it! I am staying in the downtown, at B&B Angel Azul.
