RIP Benjamin "Benny" Zwaryck 1980 - 15/11/2007

Unfortunately is not all news related to the Baja 1000 good. A personal friend and strong supporter of the Baja 1000 and his team # 803 died with another crew member on his way home from the race. Benny, from La Paz was a 110% race- and baja fan. Farewell Benny....

I'm truly sorry for your loss. He was way too young.

This race has been a huge mess. What's happening? Has it gotten too big? Is everybody pushing the envelope too hard? How many deaths? How far into this production are the cartels?

Dennis, it was not direct related to the race, he was on his way home. We dont know yet the exact circumstances - possible speeding and lost controll. It dont really matter to me, i supposed to be with him that day and only health reasons keep me away from going with him - I am still shaking about that.
2 young people death, 1 in danger to loose his life. if you look at the chase truck in the gallery and then the picture in the newspaper... it says all.
I spend some time with him the last weeks preparing the chase truck and experience the energy, joy and high spirits he put in there...... I'll miss him a lot.

Thanks all. This post was to inform the baja off road community about the accident. I have now also more information from people arrive less then a minute after accident and according to their statements i like to relay their gratitude in particular to Team Riviera that was extreme helpful at the scene. Unfortunately they have been also very upset about some @#$%holes jumping out of their vehicles to take pictures of the death people..... disgusting! The 3th. person in accident vehicle is already out of hospital and ok with only a few scratches....
