Agua Verde

Anybody have any info on Agua Verde? A friend of mine told me he used to go there to fish however it didn't sound like the road was real great. I have a boat with a 27' trailer can I get it there? Launch it? As I understand it, it is still a sleepy fishing village, is this correct? Are there any services, Pemex, Tienda etc... And of course hows the fishing? Trying to figure out if it is worth the side trip.

Agua Verde is an awesome place but I really doubt that you could tow a 27' trailer down the hill. And there are no services or Pemex.

My travel companions are thinking of bringing there 20' sled boat it's pretty light but not made to take much in open water, pretty much a bay boat. Do you think we could get the smaller boat there?

The road is tight and narrow. I'm not an expert with trailering a boat by any means. I'll let someone else answer that one. I think it might depend on what they are driving. Regardless, Agua Verde is really cool and worth the visit.

castaway$, I have been to both places... the road to Agua Verde is narrow with sharp turns and 1000' dropoff. Not good for any trailering. Launch at Puerto Escondido and sail down to Agua Verde while someone else drives your truck there, IMO.

Bahia Asuncion has a nice firm beach launching area as well as at San Roque, 8 miles beyond. Contact Shari here on Nomad for more details...

The fishing there isn't any better then out of Escondido, unless you go to Santa Cruz or Catalina islands. In miles, only 25 miles from Escondido, with good launchramp and facility to leave your car safely. Wouldn't be worth the hassle hauling that size boat down that road, unless you would stay there for a long time. JMO.:)

And if you drive in there with a boat that size, you can almost guarantee that you will be there a long time, even if you do get all the way to the water.
Things are changing fast there as there has been a major purchase of property there and there have been some reported closures of beach and launching, so save your car, your boat, and your frustrations and try escondido. Most of the good yellowtail fishing is going to be a good haul from anywhere around Loreto. You might want to consider San Lucas Cove or Mulege if you don't want the long boat rides and still want to get into fish.

We trailer our little panga to Agua Verde and it is an awesome place to putter about but a big boat is out of the question..fuel can be bought from the fishing coop there and there is a store but yes things are changing fast and beaches are being closed and fenced off. You CAN bring your boat here to Asuncion and launch it at high tide where we launch our panga and the fishing rocks...see ya soon then.
