Parade celebrates Mex revolution-Asuncion

Well, the gringos were out in force today for the parade, trotters taking pictures, Ray marching along with the kids, Kevin & I also taking pics of all my neices and nephews and 3 sailboats worth of families enjoying the spectacle too. It was not as joyous as usual as we lost one of our local amigos in a motorcycle accident yesterday and the funeral was today too which affects the whole village. Tonight we will go to the fiesta with fokloric dancing and music and eat to our hearts content at the wonderful booths...more pics tomorrow. Happy 20 de Noviembre a todos! Viva la revolucion! P.S.: Unlike other places, here we celebrated it on it's proper day and the kids had an extra long weekend and go back to school tomorrow. guess we arent' civilized YET

Parade was fun

Crowds waited for the 8AM beginning of the parade.

Opps, that's me all by myself--- Jesus told us that would be 8AM Mexican time. Shari arrived after 8:30 and did not miss a thing.

Here they come

A scary motorcycle rider at the beginning.

Then came those mean looking rebels.

Each school did different drill routines ---

"Sure hope I don't forget my routine."

"Well, OK

I will smile."

Busted by the Chief of Police!

"OK, we are just two of the members of the Lobos Marinos bringing up the rear of the parade. Can't wait for our new uniforms we are getting partly due to the Baja Nomads."

Now off to the baseball field for the competitions---well, it wasn't really a competition since there is only one school for each level.

The Competition

The youngest do perform a pyramid ---

What a pyramid

And quite a dance

This one was having so much fun, he could not be convinced to leave.

Teacher to the rescue---this is his watch my body go limp act.

"I am done with my part, and I am happy."

Now for the serious pyramids

Up

Up

Done

Girls are not to be outdone!

up

Done

"All I really care about right now is my soda"

It was a fun day---our last day in BA for a couple of weeks.

Excellent story in photos, Diane. And it ends perfectly with that lovely strawberry Fanta moustache!

Thanks to both Diane and Shari for taking us to the parade.

It was interesting and fun here in Ejido Esteban Cantu. And the gringo dune-buggy parade was a big hit. Here's the link:

Nice pictures, Diane.

But who is that lady in front of the hotel? She looks so familiar.

She usually stays on the other side of the camera where she belongs.:lol:
