I can smell the fragrant smell of baking bread from here. It reminds me when I briefly worked at a bakery in Colonia Vicente Guerrero as a kid. I was
the one hauling in the wood and sneaking pan dulce.

In 1970 I was in Barra de Navidad with a couple of friends and we took turns every afternoon buying bolilos hot out of the oven. We would slice them
open and slather peanut butter and honey and eat like there was no tomorrow!

I have two favorites:
split lengthwise apply butter and grill face down on a skillet, serve with chili, soup, bouillabaisse.
fontina cheese and smoked ham (proscuitto or serrano) sandwich with some good mustard.
Vino tinto for a beverage!

Back when....
In Todos Santos back in the 80's.... when TS was a quick pass through for many headed to Cabo to fish.... there was a bakery (I think it was right on
the main road through town..?) that had an earthen style oven out back that was "wood" fired..
The bolellos had a wonderful smokey tast to them and when eaten warm.... it was heaven! It has been many years since I've been to TS, but I have some
very fond memories from there.
I wonder if the little bakery is still there? Seems there was a small Conasupo (sp?) store a door or two away....
BTW, I still have an (unopened) bottle of Tequila from there / then (and one from Constitucion). Does 20+ years of aging do anything to Tequila? It
was a special anniversary bottle of Commeritivo anejo.... (I know I'm slaughtering spelling here, sorry...)
I have a photo of that old bakery somewhere... I'll see if I can post it!
Warm bolellos and honey/huckleberryjam/peanut butter were my favorites... (I took several jars of each when VW Camper-Van-ing it back in the 80's).
Come to think of it... I also love fresh warm tortillas right off the line with PB, Huckleberry Jam, or Honey too!! Had some last week in Loreto
Now I'm taking my warm memories out to shovel the fresh snow off my N. Idaho sidewalk.
