tuesday afternoon crossing tj to sy

having lost our passports:no::mad::no::mad::no::mad::fire::fire:
we are in the unenviable position of needing to apply in person for new ones. we plan to cross tuesday afternoon and spend the night in order to ensure we can get to the chula vista post office early wednesday morning. never having crossed on a weekday afternoon, i'm wondring if any nomads have and can provide an idea of how long a wait to expect.

thanks a lot for the help.:)

Have you informed the State Dept. about your passports?

Lili.......

Since you have all day to take a country drive, why not Tecate? Avoid the rat-race and enjoy the scenery.

yes, but that's a whole 'nuther story.
:rolleyes::rolleyes:

i called after checking state department website for instructions and duly completed forms 11 and 64 which we completed, stamped, and had ready to mail. :saint::saint:

the state department staff member i reached by phone repeatedly *broken-recorded* me with "complete and mail in form 64 to report a lost or stolen passport, and form 11 to apply for a new one. you must apply in person.":rolleyes:

so apparently they are not worried about passports being used for nefarious purposes. she did not want my name, passport number, nuthin'!:lol:possibly all the new security measures make counterfitting passports rather difficult. but thanks for the prod.:)

actually, we don't have all day. the reason we are leaving late is that steve (who is still full time employed) :smug::smug: really can't take more time right now. we were gone most of december and he's got a lot of catching up to do.:spingrin:

besides, we have enjoyed the guadalupe valley and the tecate route many times and do enjoy it when we have leisure time. this trip is strictly (nasty):fire: business.

Lili -- it's time for SENTRI passes!!! I think Tuesday may not be too bad; we've come back on Tuesday afternoons ~3:00 and seen a surprisingly short line in TJ. Look forward to your report :) And as soon we you get back home, you'll find your passports.

yes, in addition to the two u.s. passports, husband's fm3 is gone. (i have dual citizenship, no need for fm3.) went to immigration office to report it and the office was closed from 20 december through 8 january:lol:

so. went back 8 january, got list of what's needed (basically a complete re-do), and were instructed to go to municipal police and report the loss. we did that and were dealt with very efficiently. for a minute, i thought we were back in the states:tumble::tumble:

so now we get new passports, (expect 4-6 weeks or so to get them), and proceed with fm3 which fortunately does not expire until may. so we think we will be ok. cross fingers.
