I need a fish report.
Please,its been raining for days,its cold,windy and I,m bored to death.
Most anything will do,I know its slow but come on PLEASE

OK.
In Loreto, it's been raining for days. It's also been cold. Before the rain it was windy, and it was windy yesterday.
However, Monday the water was calm even though it was cool and overcast. So we went fishing.
First we tried to make bait. After a quick three mackeral each, we lost contact with the bait. Paula managed to hook herself in the finger with a
Sabaki hook, deep past the barb to the bend. I removed it with the loop of line trick, quick, almost painless and left no hole.
We drifted bajo Cholla for yellowtail. No yellows, but did get one pretty nice cabrilla (leopard grouper).
So we left the area, and a lot of birds sitting on the water, and proceeded to Coronado Island where boats were just leaving a bite of firecracker
yellowtail that had fizzeled. No bites. Went around the island, fished briefly for no bites, and met the friendly "Marine Park" people and the Profepa
man. Showed them all our documents, including the needed boat permit which is no longer available because they are not needed. Then we proceeded to
the beach to hang out for a while, after we got our balky engine to start after 10-15 tries.
Meanwhile, the lazy birds back at bajo Cholla got to work, and big yellowtail started crashing the surface. Friends who were there managed to get one,
although they were reportedly elusive and picky. After our beach stop we went back to a spot around the island but had no luck and went back in.
We saw some dolphin but no whales this time. Sorry, I took no pics. We ate half the fish last night.
Sunday and Monday look good for fishing so we'll try again.
Right now its sunny, if a bit cool. But nice in the sunshine and little wind. WE're heading for the malecon and the beach for a walk, right now...

This is the second time Don has taken a hook out of me. He is really good at it-- and if anyone finds themselves in this unfortunate position you
should call him!

No don't want to call him, but I think He should teach us all how to take a hook out with this loop of line trick.

Thank you I feel much better now,I have tried that hook extraction method twice and nearly killed myself.
It would be neat if you could explain the method again or a pic or how its done somehow,THX

I used the string yank technique on Paula. Twice. Both were small hooks.
One advantage was the lack of damage done; the first time I removed a size 14 Royal Trude dry fly from her arm and was able to keep fishing without
changing flies.

I have used the strink yank method twice on small hooks with good success. It would make me a bit nervous to use it on a larger hook or a circle hook.
Hope I don't need to find out.

Circle hooks? I think before you can get hooked with a circle hook, you have to swallow the hook?
Next time Paula and I go out, we'll experiment with circle hooks.

I gave up years ago after going to emergency and being the butt of countless jokes yet again. I crimp all barbs and make Andy fish out of the far far
far front of the boat.

Don, just remember that you don't need to set the hook, just start cranking her in.
