Baja Internet get-together, 8 years ago!

With the Matomi Gang heading south for President's Day Weekend 2008... I was thinking back at some of the first get-togethers of Baja Internet folks! Before a slide show at Discover Baja Travel Club, 'jeans' invited folks to arrive early at Mountain Mike's Pizza... I also met Neal Johns at that event...

It was early in the year 2000, at the San Clemente Pier when several of us web site owners and contributors to Amigos de Baja met for the first time... Its success inspired the Viva Baja parties and later the BBBB campouts and then the Pyramid Resort Book Signing events.

When fun-loving Baja fans meet up, the time is great...

Timothy Walker of www.timsbaja.com and I decided to meet, we invited other Baja folks to also meet up... I was relatively new to the Internet, but I did know Graham Mackintosh... so I brought him along as he is always fun and interesting!

Tim invited web hosts Carlos Fiesta (www.BajaExpo.com), Dick Van Bree (www.BajaLinks.com), Matt & Barb (elgatoloco), Jens (www.BajaWeb.com), and off of Amigos came Mike & Mary Ann Humfreville, Michelle ('M'), Whistler, Lorenzo de Baja and Ferna de Baja...

There were a few more guests as well... Wild Bill came with his date and David Eidell in time for the dinner that evening at a Mexican restaurant facing the pier.

It will be hard to beat Viva Baja Cactus 2006... That was really awesome! Antonio and his family really worked hard to show us a great time (as usual).

I am sure there will be many future parties and group campouts, so just stay tuned to Baja Nomad!

Remember, besides this weekend's Matomi Nomad caravan... we have Mexico Expo in San Diego on March 1, the Pyramid Book Signing #6 on May 3, Baja-Rosario Cultural Festival #4 in July...

See you guys there!:tumble::spingrin::yes:
