Shell Island Fans

OK you Shell Island groupies!!

Just got back. Beach deserted except...... 2 major fishing groups with muchas pangas AND mucha BASURA along with rusty refers, shell campers, etc, ect..... You all get the idea. Plus many gill nets along beach - some in good shape, some just in pieces. When driving on beach, be aware of half buried anchors, rebar that the nets attach to. Good way to blow a tire or hole your oil pan. Roads (both) in tore up with large ruts in the mud due to heavy traffic. Talked to a fisherman and fishing has not been good? Counted 13 big shrimping boats in front one night. Could be them affecting the fish??

Good news was weather was great. Calm. Good shelling. Cold cerveza, great local people, no TV or news! Stop in at Percebu Cantina & Bar and have some great food & drink. Patti makes a great Bloody Mary. Very reasonable!!

No pix as they've been posted before. Plus who wants to see trash!

Thanks for the report Chris... they won't stay long if the fishing is bad... We will return with the hot weather and hot gulf water, they will probably be gone... Gill netting is a poor way to fish, hope the dolphins stay clear of them.
