San Felipe 250 Race-Want to help us win?
Hello all.
I thought I would ask if anyone from the recent Matomi/Azufre adventure (or others) if they wanted to help our small team for the March 15th race in
San Felipe?
I think some of you who have homes in the Santa Maria area are up for the challenge AND have some fun.
The map is now posted on SCORE website. I would just need to know who is interested, and how they would like to help.
I have a place at El Dorado Ranch just 7 miles north of town and that is where my "race headquarters" will be starting Friday, March 7th. From there
we will organize the pre-running to get to know the course details. I have already been on most of the course and know I need to see it over again.
For those needing a place to stay, if you have a trailer, camper your welcome to stay. I have a second lot you could use if ultimate privacy is what
you like in the evening. You can call or email me to discuss any plans you might have.
Thanks to all.
Michael

Hola Doc,
Who are you pitting the car with?
Baja Pits?
or
Are you looking to have someone haul your fuel and tires and do it yourself. Guess it depends on what your estimated range is as to how many stops
you need.
Thats a good looking 12 car. How bout some specs?
I will get back when I have a better idea what we are doing.
Could be in for some chase and or emergency help if needed.

Hopefull that'll be you in the lead!
I have Cousins arriving from Vancouver Can. on Thursday p.m. and we hit the road mid morning on Friday to go to the beach house, can we be of help

Gadget: I may use Carlos's gang, not sure where they will be located. I plan to stop only for quick fuel or tire change. Morelia Jct or Chinalito
area. Still planning. If you have suggestions, I am all ears. You and your lady are welcome to stay at our place in El Dorado.
BW: You can surely help at that spot. If you can, stop by our place on your way down. We are close to the highway by the new Pemex. if you stop for
gas there I can meet you.
Thanks all you Nomads!

BajaLeti will not be along but thanks.
Baja Pits will have 5 pits every 50 miles. You should get with Carlos ASAP and make arrangements if that is the way you want to go. I will not quote
any costs here. Talk to Carlos direct.
Longistics is all you bro. Direct your race and tell folks where and how you want them to help you. My plan is still up in the air, but I could be
convinced to jump into this with a good game plan presented. Looks
like some other Nomads are considering joining the team. So what's up Doc? Man I couldn't wait to use that!!!
Make sure you have good radio comm from several locations on the course, an extraction crew who knows where you are and you them, so if you go down
they can come get you.
Then drive it like you stole it!!!!
Oh, and I currently have an open seat in GSB if I don't end up riding down with Curtis from RaceDezert in his Tundra pre-runner. Put your name in the
hat and stay tuned.

Talked to Carlos at Baja Pits today and they will have 5 pits spread out each 40-50 miles. We plan on using at least 2 of the 5 for fuel. It would be
helpful for those of you who want to help us, find the pit closest to where you want to be, then just give whatever help you can. Besides fuel it is
always good to look over the whole car and see if anything looks suspicious. For example, a big oil leak needs to be addressed then, not 2 miles away.
Someone needs to move the wheels around and check for loose bolts. To me, having someone with a keen eye for the hard-to-detect part that may fail
before the finish line is key. Providing a cool damp washcloth to wipe the dust off my face is an awesome bonus. All the small things add up. Thanks
to all who can contribute.

Hey Doc,
That sound like a good plan. You probably figured this all out financially, but if you sign on for emergency service you get all of the above service
at each of the pits. Just roll in, you are on the pit log as an EO, say check my tires, give me a clean rag, need oil or whatever.
Of course all this service is provided free of charge at a LocosMocos pit. Sadly we are not offering a full operation for this race do to lack of
interest within our core guys. We should be back as usual for the 500.
I will however, be with a hand full of the buggers off the Diablo Dry lake at around RM 82. We will have our gear out so if you are having any issues
pull in and we will see what we can do to help you. We will keep an eye out for you. We will be monitoring Weatherman and our frequency 151.775.
Best of luck, drive fast and take chances.

OK..got it. Let me know if you change the location. As I recall, that is at Chinalito, just before the military lookout post set up at the base of the
mountain spine. Would you be able to act as a radio relay? That mtn spine would be a good radio relay point. Are you going down prior to that race
weekend?

I will be most likely shooting footage with Curtis for his next offering of Desert People. I will have my hand held with me and if I am in a high
area I can do relay for you if you need it. I would think that any radio you have in the car will still out perform my 5W hand held regardles of how
high I hike, which won't be very, with my still healing knee.
What freque will you be using?

Understand. My freq is 157.485, but i will likely use baja pits freq the closer I get to RM94. You would be suprised what a 5W handheld will do if you
climb. They are all line of sight so you could reach a pit down in a canyon, like the baja pit one at Morelia Jct, whereas my transmission would be
broken. Anyway, whatever you can do is just fine with me. As long as I know where you are and what freq(s) you will monitor I will contact you if the
need arises. Thanks!

Steekers,
I have access to a Race Radio now, I just need the Freq. you (BajaPits) will be on. My buddy, who owns the radio, will program it for me once I have
that Frequency. Is it possible to have two programmed or more?
I will call you tonight if I don't hear back from you.
