Mulege Hospital
Hola everyone. I was sick on my trip down in November and ended up at the hospital in Mulege. Now I am a bit worried since I was sooo out of it at the
time and could not recall seeing if a new needle was used for the injection I was given. I seem to recall the nurse filling a needle at the end of my
visit and leaving it on the table ready for the next patient so I am now confused. Are needles ever reused that anyone knows of???

why even risk it now that you are cognizant??!!
get tested asap for any all possible contaminations you might have been exposed to.
...........then if you need to call the law offices of James F. Sokolov.

Thinking back, I have been punctured by needles in that Mulege downtown hospital at least 4 times...dating from early 70's (giant montrous moray eel
attack) to 2001 (when I sheared off a finger tip on a foolproof veggie slicer.)
I am just now starting to feel a wee bit woo0o0zy....
Just kidding, Nicole....pretty sure you are fine, today's new breed of doctors and nurses are very up to date. But you should get checked to put
yourself at ease, anyway. Worries bring on troubles.

Nicole,
Your inquiry got my attention.
I don't know if your inquiry is in response to what's going on in Las Vegas this month. 40K people + being notified of possible Hep C/HIV infection
because of needle re-use in several gastroenterology clinics. Scary enought stuff that I'm thinking next time I need care I may head to Baja to get
it.
Honestly, I don't know what to think of all of it, and my mom is personally involved as a patient. My first instinct is to discount the drama due to
the sensationalism that exists in the media these days. On the other hand, my mom is in desperate and constant care of her gastroenterologist and
he's tied up in this mess. His business licence has been yanked by the City even though the medical community hasn't sanctioned him.
She needs immediate care and we can't figure out how to get our hands on her records. It's a mess here! I doubt you're at any more risk being
treated in Mexico........
Anyone wanting to research the latest news on this debacle can go to www.lvrj.com.

I can't speak for your case, but my husband and I both
have received care in the Mulege hospital and were treated with the utmost care and professionalism. Personally, I wouldn't be concerned.

Thanks to all who replied. I wasn't worried going in - only after when I was trying to recall all that had gone on while half-delirious did I begin to
question if all safe practices were followed. I think I'll get tested after the "incubation" period has passed just in case but remain hopeful that
protocols are being followed. As an aside, I highly recommend the Amerimed clinic in Los Barriles!

If you are worried enough to get tested visit your doctor as soon as possible, don't wait. If for some reason you did experience an exposure to
something, depending on what it was, treatment may be time sensitive.
