Where?

Where is this water gauge, and how far from the nearest water to gauge?

Who cares?

In the arroyo Zarragoza sourth of Loreto, a mile or so from the nearest permanent water. When this gauge is measuring anything, there is little likelihood that anyone could get there to read it.

I've never seen anything like it. How do you know that it's a water gauge?

gauge

I have seen similar alongside dams, weirs, bridges, and watercourses. There also used to be similar devices on most public piers.
