Border Crossing
Has anyone gone through the comercial lane at Tecate with a large motor home? The auto lanes are VERY tight and with sharp turns that a 40 footer has
a hard time with. Any sugjestions for an easy crossing from Baja to US?

I would contact the proper authorities on the US side prior to attempting that. Sometimes they have an attitude in the regular lanes.

Do you have to cross at Tecate rather than Otay?

If you elect to cross at Tecate make sure that you stay in the left lane as you get to the border gates. It is easier to make the turn into secondary
from there. As you pull into the secondary, stay to the far right so you have room to swing left towards the exit gate.
If you absolutely cannot make the turns, they will let you head straight ahead to the no-inspection lane. They have always been very helpful directing
us through the lanes.

Thanks for the come-backs,
The TJ crossings have been VERY busy and 5-6 hour waits are common, hence the Tecate crossing, I went through Tecate a couple of weeks ago with the
car and asked the US officer if a motor home could use the comercial lane, he said NO! I was wondering if it was illeal or not and what the outcome
might be if somebody just goes in and tries without asking?

That's a long wait. You have to be refering to a Sunday PM crossing time. Most other times don't even approach this duration.
If the Man at the gate said NO, you have to listen to him, legal or not. They make the rules in spite of what is on the books, if there are such
things.
