spectral creatures of the sierra

Last week, the hills above Santiago crawled with life, death, and what lies in between...
In the sulfurous sands of santa rita, a serpent stalked us...

while a yellowish wasp became the prey of a ghastly white spider...

a slithering ballet danced in a pool...

a slick and greedy diver comes up for air after feasting on tadpole lads...

his cousin crept up behind me and almost frightened me off the rocks...

while a ghost beetle laughed with empty eyes!!!!!

They said we were lucky to make it back to Sol de Mayo alive... this time!

Those look like the inhabitants of the pools at Agua Caliente....many, many of those water snakes in that area. We've also seen bullfrogs the size of dinner plates in those pools;watched two huge frogs up on their hind legs fighting one day for about 30 minutes. Just a gorgeous area!

Lencho, it was just the two of us, me and m'lady, and we were at Santa Rita behind San Jorge on Wednesday, if I remember correctly... a couple showed up with two teenagers, as I recall? We weren't running away, just time to go :)

Yep that's me and Meriam on the right, with Doctor Prisciliano and Celeste from Santiago. I bet you've got a few pictures as well?
