Fishing License Question
Someone told me today that I could no longer purchase my fishing license in Loreto. So, tomorrow I am heading to Santa Rosalia instead. Does anyone
know for sure that I won't be able to buy it in Loreto tomorrow?

You can get your license at the office next to the marina.

Thank you Backninedan. We've bought our licenses there for the past two years. We are taking our friends back to airport from Mulege tomorrow. I
read that we don't need to renew our boat permit, but we need our new licenses Pinto Bass Tournament here. Thanks again. Lauri

Last time we had to get a license for someone in Loreto, a couple of months ago, it was an overnight process.
The licenses use a web site that does not provide for credit cards. You give your information to the lady at the marina office. She does not have
internet access at the office, but for 40 pesos she will take your info home with her after work and print out the form at home. The next day you
take it to the bank, pay, then take the paperwork back to the office and she will write you a license.
I guess this is how they simplify things.
So, try this. Go to this page: Mexican License Application
Fill out the form yourself. Then you are ready to go to the bank, and can get it done in one day.
Sorry if this info is a day late for you.
For those still in the USA, I believe these licenses may still be available over-the-counter, the old fashioned way, at many tackle shops, Baja travel
clubs, and the Mexican Conapesca office in San Diego. But maybe they have changed to?
The new system does identify the location of where you'll fish by state, and the I think the money is apportioned to that state. If true, that's a big
plus.
And when in Loreto, don't forget your Marine Park permit as well. They say annual permits are now available as well as the daily wrist bands.

I got my annual fishing permit in Loreto on February 15. The lady in the office by the marina completed the form, I took it to the bank and paid,
returned to the office where the permit was issued, and had the permit laminated at the papeleria, all in less than an hour. The charge for the
permit was 482 pesos plus, 40 pesos for completing the form.

Okay, apparently the web-based application is now optional, and the local office can send you directly to the bank with a form as Bill just did. Or,
you can still use the web application-I renewed this morning that way and saved the 40 peso charge, went to the bank first with the printed form from
the web, then to the office. Fastest ever.
It changes every time I need a license for someone. I think the lady working in the office does a good job in removing some of the bureaucratic
gobbledygook that sometimes pops up. And she is a master of manual typewriter kung fu!
Tips: If you use the online form, turn off popup blockers. And Mac Firefox failed to generate the correct page to print, Safari was OK. On the top
list of buttons, #2 is "para extranjeros" which suggest it's the correct button for gringos. It didn't work for me. I used the third option.
