automatic transmission - La Paz
Does anyone have an automatic transmission mechanic in La Paz that they can recommend? We have a 97 Blazer that has a harsh upshift from 1st to 2nd
after driving it a long distance. Researching the problem I've found that it's a common problem and requires replacing a control valve body, not a
rebuild.
I think the world is run by C- students.

Thanks for the tip. Did the loose wire cause the harsh upshift all the time or only after being driven for many miles? The GM bulletin I found sounds
exactly like the problem I am having. Everything works fine until I drive it for 40 - 50 miles on the highway. Goes away again after stopping for a
bit. I finally end up starting off from stops in town in 2nd gear to avoid the hard shifts.

Good Tranny Guy
I mean tranny as in transmission expert, not the cross dressing kind.
Yeah, the guy on Madero next to the AA meeting hall is really good. He rebuilt the tranny on my 93 Dodge diesel 3/4 ton in 1999 for $900. USD and it
has performed perfectly ever since. Reminds me, I'm due for a servicing, I mean the transmission is.

Thanks. I'll stop by and talk to him today. Should I talk to the guy in the mini-skirt?

Took me a few tries because I couldn't remember where the AA meeting hall was. It's on Jalisco close to Ramirez. I am assuming the tranny shop you
recommended is the one almost on the corner of Jalisco on Ignacio Ramirez, not Madero. Shop name is J. J. Tranmisiones Automaticas. I couldn't find a
tranny shop on Madero close to AA. Anyway, they are going to look at it on Wednesday. Thanks.

I told the shop about this. The transmission needs servicing anyway so if it's just a loose wire they can fix it then.
