Mary,

It really depends on your life style. You can live very cheap or can throw money after money, learn where the locals shop (avoid the American style stores) It's not nearly as cheap as it was even 6yrs. ago (I bought 2 kilos of prawns for $6 USD, and 6 lobster tails for $8 USD and those were delivered by the local fishermen at our camp in Santispac! (Mulege)

It isn't the great bargin it once was in Baja, but, it can be done if you learn to live as the locals do. Good luck, Debra

Definitely depends on where and how. Cabo can cost you as much or more as many places in the states. If you are adaptable to local communities and practices, you can safely count living on 40-50% of mean (Dalls as an example)cost of US living AND still enjoy being there. Like anything/anyplace, you can do it for a fraction of that if surviving is the objective.

Living in Baja

My son and I lived in San Jose del Cabo in 1997 for $400.00 a month.
We housesat someone's nice RV at a trailer park and it was parked in the first row right on the beach.
They had stocked it with tons of books and videos.
There was as swimming pool and nightclub and restaurant there also.
I didn't have to pay the site rental nor utilities.
We just purchased food, fun and necessities like that wonderful ice cream sold downtown ;-)
