Gympy laid an egg

she is almost 3 years old and yesterday when jim was putting some food near her(we have to put her food within gymping distance as she cant move too far), he noticed that she had an egg right beside her.
we have biddies that we got from the feed and seed, but that is all that has changed. so maybe she is thinking that we will get rid of her if she doesnt start carrying her weight.
that is it for today's poultry news from BCS!

I once had a buddy with chickens. He called me to tell me that they would not lay. He knew that I had raised chickens so asked me what to do. I told him to put fake eggs in the nest i.e. old light bulbs etc. He called me back a few weeks later and told me that the fake eggs had not worked and that one day he got so p.o.d at his hens that he kicked one. Sure enough, it laid an egg. He told me he took to grabbing them each morning by the nape of the neck and shaking them....sure enough, they all started to lay.

True story.

I can go into the whys and wherefores of why this works, but will forego it in deference to the more senstive on this board

I tried, I really did try......not a lot.

Anyway it appears that pain stimulates ovulation in many creatures. Now for humans it seems diamonds, candles, soft light, barry manalo??? etc. appeal to most, though a thorough review of some publications would seem to indicate that there are a great number of others who roost with the chickens, so to speak.

Don't be too chicken to slap your rooster too! Now that should give em somthing to crow about.

Stop!!!!
