A range of places, from isolated ranchos in the mountains to Cabo San Lucas. Depends more on YOU than on the particular place.
So if you have questions, you need to be more specific or you'll get smart-ass replies.
I live in Loreto and that's always an option, for some.

If you liked the Ensenada area, then Los Cabos is going to be the most similar experience in terms of goods and services and urban experience with the
addition of better weather and nicer beaches with out the proximity to the TJ/Rosarito crime scene.
If you didn't like Ensenada only with better weather and nicer beaches, then you wont like Los Cabos area.

When I was at LAP in the terminal I saw a map on the wall. I think it was Paradise something. It's out on the tip of Mogote. It's got golf courses and
everything. I think it's for rich people.
The was another big map on another wall but I didn't look at it.

I looked for my paradise for many many years and finally found it here in Asuncion. I absolutely LOVE this place and it's people for a cazillion
different reasons...it's perfect for ME and has all the qualities that are important to me...gorgeous beaches, cliffs, varied coastline, open pacific
swells and all her glorious creatures, clean ocean and air, nice folks, lots of horses and animals, a hospital, just the right amount of stores...no
chain places, great climate especially in the summer which is very important if you are going to live somewhere full time, central so we can visit
many of bajas fantastic attractions like missions, cave paintings, lagoons etc., I could go on for days....everyone needs to find their personal
paradise and just go there.

Shari you forgot to mention that Asuncion is close to San Roque, which in my opinion is the most beautiful, tranquil place in the world!

Just my suggestions--
Visit several places and visit more than once at different times of the year to really get a feel for the places.
We love it here in Bahia Asuncion, but we have seen people come here when the weather was great and not really understand that this place gets cold
and windy---a lot, especially this time of the year. We like it.
Yes, there is good fishing here, but not all the time.
Also, we have been asked what the American Community was like around here---well, there is no American Community.
There are only a couple of places to eat out around here and the stores are small and sometimes not well stocked---just part of life around here as
everyone swarms the stores when the veggie man arrives.
The water goes off for days at a time during which they might turn it on long enough to fill barrels, but not enough pressure to fill the tinacos on
the roof. Some say, oh, just put a pump on the system---yea, but then others won't even have enough to fill barrels. Tis fun to run a load of
washing carrying the water one bucket at a time. 
For a bank or an ATM, we have to drive to Vizcaino---good time to do a little more shopping.
So, visit places more than once and really check them out. Everyone has different wants and needs.
As far as cities go, we really like La Paz, but not during the summer!

It's all good! Just depends on what your "needs" are. Need to be on the grid? ATM's. Fuel? Fresh water. How many miles do you want to be away from all of those things.:tumbleo you speak Spanish?
