DirecTV in San Felipe
Does anyone have the new MPEG4 DirecTV Receiver and 5 LNB dish installed at there casa in SF?
My question is this:
Do you receive the local HD channels? I am from Pheonix and I think the Phx spot beam hits SF. I don;t want to spend the money on a new dish and HD
receiver if I am not going to gain anything.

You don't need the new setup to check receipt on the spot channels. Just point the older-style dish to the correct satellite and see if you get a
signal on the correct transponder(s). Frankly I would doubt that Phoenix locals are available there as I think that would violate DTV's agreements
with local providers, but I don't really know for sure.

Don't know about receiving Phoenix in SF, but I know you can get San Diego there on Directv.

i would think if you get the San Diego Locals in SF you probably not going to the the phoenix channels. They are separate spots.
Go to www.dbstalk.com. they will know the answer for sure and they have charts/maps of what the spots cover.

San Felipe South Campos:
I am setting a new Sat. dish (DirecTV) on my new casa. The new dish will be replacing my old dish on my older home on the same property.
Does anyone have the coordinates to point the dish? Is the Azimuth 58 degrees?
I have a meter that will help me fine tune it, just need to get it close to start and cannot read the degrees on the old dish any longer.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

This will give you the settings for the dish. Just put in Lat & Long and select 101 deg DTV, 110,119

I was on a web site somewhere that showed the spot beam patterns and and it showed SF as part of the beam. I get the locals (SD) now, but I think
that is a CONUS signal.

That won't work due to it being MPEG 4 and I have my old receivers. I am trying to decide if I want to go to all of the expense and hassle to get a
new dish and receiver(S) for a few more HD channels and maybe my locals in HD.

My buddy just emailed me his readings (by memory).
He said 147 x 50 elevation. Will try in two weeks when we go back unless someone has better numbers.
Mr.FatBoy, the site said it only have NorthWestern Hemisphere coordinates unless I did something wrong (completely possible).

Like I said, completely possible I have no idea what I'm doing.
I recieved help from a neighbor 13 years ago when I first subscribed to DirecTV, and it has worked perfectly all of this time. I'm just installing a
new dish on the new casa, and I just need to know where to point the darn thing. With the meter I have and now knowing the elevation, plus the use of
a compass, I should be able to get it.

Can't see why it won't work with a satellite signal meter. On a regular meter, you'll get the analog signal strength. With something more
sophisticated, you'll see the digital signal as well. That's what an installer will use, right? That's what I do when I install both TV an Internet
systems, but then again I have a birddog meter.

Sorry you are not getting it.
I know that I can pickup the sat but it depends on what I am picking up. DirecTV and Dish both use spot beaming for HD locals. So if I upgrade to
the new MP4 receiver and 5 lnb dish and I going to get my normal channels like I do in Phx.
So again, the question is more to anyone who is from Phx and has DirecTV with the new receiver, do you get HD local channels when you are in SF??
