"Comando Negro" de Ensenada

They captured the head of a drug and kidnapping gang in Ensenada over the weekend. Turns out he was the former police chief, Rosario Flores Rojas. The article says that a bunch of people in high places in Ensenada's police and Justice ministry are shaking in their boots. Apparently, according to the article, he was being protected by his godmother, Sonia Patricia Navarro Navarro, who was an assistant prosecutor in the Justice ministry. People all the way up to the top of the Justice Department are implicated.

They think this guy is connected with the Arellano Félix cartel and that the cartel would try to spring him out of jail. So they have him in some undisclosed place, being guarded by the army.

Why doesn't this surprise me ??

The same way it wouldn't suprise me if Torres himself were the godfather of the whole rotten can of worms.

And once again I ask, why are these people only fired, why are they not prosecuted ????

Because every level from the bottom to the top is corrupt ! That's why.

How many years of living in Baja does it take to read this type of post and not respond out of apathy?

Well right now I dont plan on going through TJ, or points south for awhile. The old General stepped on the wrong toes on both sides of this one and retribution & revenge is probably already on the way.

He likes his publicity but it may not be the kind he expected.

What does Torres have to do with Ensenada? Geography lesson needed?

The equation of ....police = criminals.....still amazes me.....:(

I do like the good cop stories that appear here from time to time and I wonder how they feel about the way things are.....

:bounce:

One down.

This is what it will take to get people coming back to Baja. A lot more of this sort capture and punishment. Telling the US public that everything is OK with out demonstrating real resolve to really change the situation will do nothing.

This general is to be congratulated and I hope he is safe. Encouraging to read stories like this.

What happened to "You clean your house BEFORE you invite company?"

It's like Mexico is saying "Come on over- just don't pay attention to the mess."

Sounds like something you'd hear in a college dorm..."don't mind the mess..."
