When diving in the South Pacific, I have seen Pacific Islanders with them almost two feet long........Sea Cucumbers I mean.

Brown trout are a freshwater species. That specimen must be a lobster roll, indigenous to the same area, especially Puerto Nuevo.

One of my lab instructers got a big kick out of demonstrating(a bucket of warm water) the animals ability to eviscerate certain organs in order to
dupe their enemies and satisfy their predators hunger. They simply leave their guts behind, crawl off and regenerate a new set.

I ate sea cucumber with some Koreans once, raw..They put hot sauce and jalapenos on it, and some fresh garlic..Kinda tasted like rubber band with hot
sauce, garlic and jalapenos on it..

we caught this thing up at "jingle beach" at the "mouth"
of the bay...
it did squirt a little stuff out but DID NOT "spill it's guts"
the "girls" giggled all the way home...i wonder why...
a map is included just in case Iflyfish did really lose something
the animal was released where he was taken after he was "tagged" and photographed
thanks grover we ALL had a GREAT laugh
we may have to watch caddyshack tonight !!!

Used to be a large sea cucumber fishery in Bahia de Los Angeles. Lots of chicken wire drying tables and many divers collecting them. An important
food/pharmacy item in Asian countries. Don't know if there is still a sea cucumber industry in Baja now. Turn over any rock in the intertidal zone
in Baja Sur and you will find several sea cucumbers under each. See http://www.itmonline.org/arts/seacucumber.htm for more information on this potentially economic valuable animal.

There is still an active fishery here in So Cal. Now is the time. The price of Erizo's (urchin's) is in the toilet, and the quality is off, so we go
pick up pickles. We are trying to get Mike Rove from Dirty Jobs to come out on the boat with us and cut some pickles. It's dirty, and it smells by the
end of the day, perfect.
I know a few guys in the N. Pac./ El Rosario region of Baja that do "pepinos" certain times of year.

The Italians call it cazo marino, or sea penis. Ask Roberto if you don't believe me.
If rubbed it turns hard and eventually throws up it's intestines. Hence the name. Records of this common name go back to the Romans.

Tis indeed a sea cuke...really a tasty treat if prepared properly...simply split it open and you will find several whitish strips of flesh lining the
walls of the critter...peel them off and saute them in butter and garlic...a real tasty treat.....snorkeling at shell beach out by sta. inez beach saw
hundreds of them, all much bigger than the one shown here. Labor intensive, but we really enjoy them..yum
dyslexia is never having to say you\'re yrros.
