Somebody has some explaining to do

Last night in TJ, the Policía Estatal Preventiva (PEP) raided a baptism party at a rented party hall and arrested 62 people, armed to the teeth. Among them was one active duty TJ municipal police officer and another 4 suspended TJ police officers.

There were also some private security guards at the party standing guard, so the PEP went over to the offices of the security company and arrested its president, José Rodríguez Gamez, a former judicial police officer.

You should look at the list of arms and supplies they recovered at the baptism..at the bottom of the article.

If you look at the readers' comments below the news article, one of the commenters said: "Don't let them go until they pay good money".

Raid

Sometime in the late 60s or early 70s there was a big Federal Police raid at a popular club in TJ. There were lots of arrests for drugs and arms possession. During the processing at jail they found that they had bagged a number of police from various jurisdictions. The real kicker, though, was all the guys who were currently serving time at La Mesa Penitentiary.

Out don't expect the bad guys to be sitting at home when they could meet and conspire at a salon under the cover of baptism. I'm sure they have them every nigth around town.

They never rush to baptise in Mexico- maybe they had some exotic dancers who needed a soul clensing.

OK stick with me on this...

This is just some interesting follow-up to that big bust last Saturday night.

As you probably know, a lot of TJ municipal police were fired recently when they couldn't pass the lie detector tests and investigations. About 33 of these fired police went to a judge and got an "amparo". Basically, they got an order from the judge ordering TJ to rehire them. So, Mayor Jorge Ramos Hernández went out in public and said, "They can pray all they want, I'm not rehiring them".

Included in the big bust last Saturday, where they took down some major bad guys at a baptism, were four TJ police officer who had been dismissed and one active duty police officer. It turns out that one of the dismissed TJ police officers arrested was one of the 33 who got the "amparo" ordering the Mayor to rehire him.

This morning Mayor Jorge made a public announcement urging local lawyers to NOT defend the criminals arrested last Saturday. He told them to "not get their hands dirty with ill-gotten money because while all citizens have the right to be defended, the bulk of the population also deserves to live in tranquility."

If I were Mayor Jorge, I would invest in some Kevlar clothes and a really big armored SUV.

Thanks Comitan for the translation. A little hard to read with the 2 languages mixed together in each paragraph.

It is really turning into the wild west down there, isn't it?

It's BCN surf season at my favorite reefs, can't find a soul to go down with me though. Leti is not supportive of my usual solo surf trips.
