Insecurity a factor in the loss of tourism: Elizondo

http://www.afntijuana.info/2008/julio/21julio/inseguridad.ht...

"A lack of security in the border states of northern Mexico has been a factor which has reduced the presence of tourists, said Federal Secretary of Tourism, Rodolfo Elizondo.

After signing an agreement with governors and representatives of the five northern Mexican states that is designed to recover tourism in those entities; the federal secretary expressed concern about the "medium-sized cities, in particular, where we have lost tourism, as with the border strip."

Between being pushed, trying to evade the communication media and somewhat annoyed, the secretary merely said "surely (insecurity) is one of the factors which has affected the loss of tourism , that's all I I can say. "

He assured that during the private meeting that took place with the various leaders a representative of the Federal Police attended, considering that the subject of security is a priority for tourism."
